Tracing complex networks
& mapping contamination

Application Areas

CRBN

CBRN

Tracenet is a versatile technology continuously developed and adapted to fit different possible needs.
Identifying sources of water contamination implies dealing with many categories of information, including population, environment and network. This complex interacting system produces various spillover effects, which leads us to devise different detection strategies. Each situation is case-specific, depends on particular inputs and will find its own solutions.
To achieve its goal, TRACEnet uses optimized network modeling and sampling methods.
The innovation covers all contamination sources, be they chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear (CBRN).

Health

Health

TRACEnet is an essential tool for building a robust health assessment system. The technology helps improve geographically-based health care policy (alert systems, surveillance, lockdown monitoring, emergency response, etc.) and participates in increasing the global accuracy of public safety and emergency preparedness. Through appropriate means and under legal preconditions, housing units might be targeted as contamination sources, thus offering the highest precision for disease mapping. Our process covers all epidemiological situations, be it through preventive disease management (low prevalence) or through the deployment of curative solutions (peak contamination) in cooperation with official health authorities. TRACEnet realizes its full potential in complex, densely populated urban systems.

Environment

Environment

Environment represents a major challenge for our societies and is a promise of deep changes in our ways of life. Water contamination with chemicals or other hazardous substances is detrimental to human health and ecosystems. Many creeping pollutions are ignored and eventually become public during crisis episodes without their geographic origin and nature ever being known. TRACEnet is designed to help identify these contamination sources through the compounds released in water networks. Application areas include point and non-point pollutions, i.e., agricultural and industrial runoff, heavy metals, chemical waste, bacterial contaminants, fertilizers and pesticides. We address both short time and gradual discharge.

Security and justice

Security and justice

Water may also be used for conducting police investigation. The objective is here to identify criminal activities generating human and/or environmental damage. Illegal compounds released into water, directly or indirectly, may be traced back by our technology. Drug consumption places, clandestine production laboratories, illegal mining and terrorist attacks involving CBRN agents are among the issues to be resolved. Criminal offense is a major threat to environmental sustainability, public health, safety and the quality of life. Tracking can be conducted in natural areas of ecological interest or in dense urban environments where people engage in illegal and harmful activities.

Protocol

Protocol

Our mission starts with water contamination, whatever the source may be.

  • Surface or ground water networks

  • Single or multiple pollution sources

  • Static or mobile sampling strategy

  • Human-based or automated operational sampling

  • Preventive (early) or curative (late) contamination monitoring

  • On-demand low or high mapping accuracy and cluster identification
